Resident Evil 5 cover story

Games TM magazine had Resident Evil 5 as its cover story.

-A demo will definitely be released early next year on Xbox Live (and presumably PSN). It will probably contain the same village levels as those shown at E3.

-Resident Evil 5 has a scrapped beta. Three years ago they had a working build that centred around zombies but it was canned as they were too slow-moving.

-A new control scheme that allows strafing has been added. Officially called the "D-type" scheme and unofficially called the "Gears of War control scheme" by the devs, these controls will be optional and traditional controls will still be included. Believe it or not, the reason Takeuchi cites for this change is the Resident Evil movies. With the increased expansion of the brand he wanted newcomers to the series to be able to pick it up quickly.

-Excella Gionne is allied with Wesker.

-Several BOWs from games before Resident Evil 4 will be returning.

-The heat/mirage gameplay elements never existed. Takeuchi puts this down to a mistranslation as the Japanese for "heat" and "light" are very similar.

The screens from this article were the same as those shown in the recent issue of Famitsu.
